Ig (Water)
Experience the natural beauty of the Philippine archipelago through dance, depicting the ebb and flow of oceans, still lakes, waterfalls, and rivers. Kinding Sindaw immerses participants in the rich ecosystem of these waters, using intricate footwork and body movements to embody traditions from the Meranao, Maguindanao, Tboli, and Taosug peoples. The dances share rituals and stories from the Derangen, Lemlunay, and Kissa epics, reflecting cultural codes tied to the land and water. Accompanied by the kulintang music of Tradition Bearers from Iranun Bai Labi, this 90-minute performance honors the heritage of the southern Philippines and uplifts the stories of these communities.

La MaMa Presents: Kinding Sindaw Storytelling
Stories from the indigenous peoples of Mindanao, Southern Philippines told directly to you through storytelling, chants, and dance.
Pananadem (Remembering)
** Thanks to La MaMa, CultureHub, and Howlround you can now watch our most recent production online!
Pananadem means “remembering” in the language of the Meranao people. It is a way of looking back across time, to gain inspiration and perspective from one’s ancestors. In this tale, old and new align, as a young group of refugees whose quest for inspiration leads them to a transformative encounter with displaced tradition-bearers who recall the legends of Derangen, the Meranao epic.
