Queens Public Library presents Kinding Sindaw, a New York City based Filipino dance theater company. The event will feature performances and a lecture forum that explore the rich ancestral culture and traditions of the Southern Philippines. The program will showwcase traditional dance, Kulingtan music, and silat martial arts, passed down orally through generations. Participants will gain insight into how these art forms reflect the cycles of life and the cultural heritage of the Filipino people, as seen in the intricate weaving, beadwork, and woodcraft.
